RULES

1. The BTU Golfing Society North East shall consist of members of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, or Members of Associated Industries, or at the discretion of the Committee. Applicants for Membership of the ‘The BTU Golfing Society North East’ shall be or shall have been members of a Bonafede Golf Club within 12 months of application, or at the discretion of the committee. Members must have a current WHS handicap, or a handicap decided by the Committee.

2. The object of the Society shall be to form a friendly bond between members, to arrange matches and generally to promote the best interests of the game.
3. The management of the Society shall be in the hands of the committee consisting of the Captain, Vice-Captain, immediate Past Captain, Honorary Secretary / Treasurer and six elected members (two members to be elected each year to serve a term of three years); elected members on retiring may offer themselves for re-election. Four to form a quorum. The total committee therefore will be eleven in number.
4. The Captain and Members of the Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Any casual vacancy occurring in the Officers of the Society, in any year, may be filled by the committee, subject to confirmation by the next Annual General Meeting.
5. The Annual General Meeting shall be held in September of each year, at which an audited Statement of Receipts and Expenditure shall be presented, and the Officers and Committee elected for the following year.
6. The Annual Subscription shall be payable on or before the Spring Meeting each year. Prizes cannot be won by any member whose subscription is in arrears. Notice will be given to any member who is in arrears on June 1st of the current year.
7. Guests and Visitors from other BTU Societies are very welcome at all event’s apart from Captain’s Day. Only one Guest subsidised per BTU member per calendar year. Aside from The CIBSE Trophy, Guests can only compete for the Guest Prize.
8. Winners of Major Trophies (The Doyle, Senior’s Trophy, Captain’s Prize, BTU Cup, Copperad Trophy, Past Captain’s Prize), shall be penalised one stroke for a period up to and including the following year’s event. A two-stroke penalty will apply to anyone with a handicap of 20 and above. This rule does not apply to any Doubles Competitions or the Singles Matchplay Competition.
9. ANY MEMBER who has not attended a Society Meeting for two years shall be excluded from the Society, except for ill health, or any other reason considered valid at the discretion of the General Committee.

General Information
In case of a tie in any competition, the winner will be declared who has the best score for the first nine holes or afterwards until a lead is held.
Match Play Singles
Full difference between the full handicaps of the two players. Max Handicap 24.
Match Play Four ball
Lowest handicapper to concede strokes to other players based upon 90% of the difference between their full handicaps. Max Handicap 24.
Greensomes Bogey
Full difference between Greensomes handicaps. To calculate an exact Greensomes handicap you add 0.6 of the lower player’s handicap to 0.4 of the higher player’s. The difference between the two teams’ exact Greensomes handicaps is then rounded up or down as normal (rounding occurs only once at the very end).

Handicap Index, then apply Course Slope.
If this exceeds 24, then 24 Max applied.
Rule 8, Penalty Shots, then applied.
Stableford Competitions
Singles
Handicap Index, then apply Course Slope.
If this exceeds 24, then 24 Max applied.
Rule 8, Penalty Shots, then applied.
Four Ball
Handicap Index, then apply Course Slope.
If this exceeds 24, then 24 Max applied.
